Good Faith Estimate (GFE)
Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 – effective January 1, 2022), health care providers must give clients who are uninsured or not using insurance an estimate of expected charges for services.
This GFE shows the costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your mental health care needs. It is for your awareness only and does not require immediate financial commitment or payment.
Estimated Services

Session fee: $250 per session

Typical course of therapy: Most clients attend between 8 and 20 sessions, which would total $2,000 to $5,000.

Some clients choose to continue therapy beyond this range. For example, 30 sessions would total $7,500.

Your actual costs will depend on your goals, progress in therapy, and scheduling preferences.
Your Rights

You have the right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services.

The GFE does not include unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.

If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your GFE, you may dispute the bill.

You may contact us to discuss the bill, request an update, negotiate charges, or ask about financial assistance.

You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

You must begin the process within 120 calendar days of the original bill.

There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process.

If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will pay the amount on this GFE. If the agency agrees with the provider, you will pay the billed amount.

Timing of Good Faith Estimates

If services are scheduled at least 3 business days in advance: you must receive a GFE within 1 business day of scheduling.

If services are scheduled at least 10 business days in advance: you must receive a GFE within 3 business days of scheduling.

If you request a GFE without scheduling: you must receive it within 3 business days of your request.

A new GFE must be provided if services are rescheduled.
